The Government has said that it will lower the age threshold for the adult national mimum wage from 22 to 21...

Prestige Employment Solutions have reported an increased number of enquiries at their office following articles that have appeared in recent journals and Broadsheets, reporting that Government will lower the age threshold for the adult national minimum wage from 22 to 21.
Currently employees aged between 18 and 21 receive a minimum wage of £4.60 per hour while staff aged 22 or older get a minimum wage of £5.52.
From 1 October 2008, the adult minimum wage will rise to £5.73 and recently ministers and union representatives at the Labour Partys National Policy Forum (NPF) voted to extend this adult rate to include 21 year olds.
BERR, the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, have stated that at this stage it is a rumour and has not been made as an official amendment at this stage.
