The Government is to replace paper-based sick notes with an electronic fit note for employees in response to Dame Carol Black's (director for Health & Work) report, 'Working for a Healthier Tomorrow', published early 2008

What does this mean?

GP's in Britain will inform employers of tasks employees would be able to perform at work, rather than signing them off work with a sick note

Other proposals include support for diasbled people or those who have become too ill to return to, or stay in, work by helping them manage their condition and get support to keep their jobs

Hopefully employers will see a cut in the amount of money lost within their busines economy from workplace absenteeism.
